Hello! I’m grateful that you are here.
My name is Gabrielle Belhumeur and I am a registered psychotherapist (qualifying) in Ontario. Through my own lived experience, I have come to understand that even if we already have support in our lives (friends, family, partners), it can often feel like there is still something missing. As humans in a fast-paced (and sometimes lonely) world, we may not have a place just for us, where we can slow down and unpack everything on our minds and hearts. Somewhere we can rely on as we walk through the many ups and downs that life may throw at us, while also trying to understand and process the impacts of our past experiences.
To laugh, to cry and to heal.
I also know what it’s like to finally recognize that therapy might be helpful, only to be faced with dozens of therapist profiles feeling completely unsure of where to start. It can be overwhelming and frustrating, I get it! This is a big step, and I’m honoured that you’ve made it this far. I would love to talk more about what it might look like for us to start this journey together and begin to bring you back to your most authentic, grounded and connected self.
Fun facts about me: when I’m not working, you can find me fully immersed in cooking/baking a new recipe, reading, redecorating, walking in my happy place (nature), taking a new online therapy training course or rewatching my favourite movies & shows for the umpteenth time (FRIENDS anyone?). My greatest joy is in being a mama to my little dude, who has taught me so much about patience, self-compassion, being truly present, and finding the beauty in each moment.

My Approach
My approach to therapy is person-centred, compassionate and relationship-based, where my purpose is to provide a warm, empathic and curious space for you to land.
I also incorporate mindfulness, grounding exercises, gentle challenging, and other skills & tools to help you better understand your inner world and grow in your strengths.
The modalities I may use are all trauma-informed and include experiential approaches like internal family systems (IFS), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), sensorimotor and somatic therapy, along with more cognitive-behavioural approaches like DBT, CBT, and ACT.
No matter what “type” of therapy is used, my goal is to explore with you the impacts of your past, dig deeper into your present struggles and inner resilience, and help you find a path forward to a future that feels authentic to who you want to be.
In our time together we may explore chapters of your life story, such as your upbringing and other significant experiences, discovering more about how they have shaped your perspectives of yourself, others and the world.
We might take a curious look at your inner world, where things might have gotten “stuck” in patterns of emotions, reactions and behaviours that do not feel right for you anymore.
We may find there are parts of you that have been hurt, and other parts who work hard to protect you from further harm.
In getting to know these parts better, offering compassion for their purpose, fears and needs, we can gently release them from their burdens and bring your system back into harmony.
You are not alone in your struggles, and there is support for you here.
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change”
– Carl Rogers
